Week Calendar – An excellent alternative for customizing how you view appointments

Today’s App is Week Calendar available for the iPad at $3.99 and the iPhone (and watch app) for $1.99; Although I primarily use Week Calendar on my iPad.
You might be saying “but I already HAVE a Calendar app that came with my iPad, why would I need another one?”
Two reasons: 1) Week Calendar looks prettier, and 2) it offers a ton of options for customizing how you view appointments.
The first thing you need to know is that you cannot completely replace the default iOS Calendar app; but apps like Week Calendar will mirror the same calendars you see in the default iOS Calendar app so you don’t have to do any extra setup or re-subscribes to calendars once you install Week Calendar.
I started using Week Calendar several years ago before the default iOS Calendar app allowed me to tap and drag an appointment. And then I just kept using Week Calendar because I was able to customize and tweak it in so many ways that I wasn’t allowed to do on the default iOS Calendar app.
For example, my favorite tweak is that in the week view, I can make the current day column wider than the other days. It sounds trivial, but I love the simple visual that quickly lets me focus on the current day.
You can also set up “templates” for common calendar entries.
There’s also a helpful “Action Menu” that you can customize to accomplish quick actions like “shift an appointment by 15 minutes.”
Week Calendar allows you to change the font size for different views like Week and Day.
You can also attach documents and files from Dropbox to any appointment which is helpful when you need quick access to a document during a client appointment.
There’s also a handy way to print out all your events for a day or week, although I would of course implore you to keep printing to a minimum!
You get the idea – you can customize and tweak a LOT in Week Calendar. I do wish it was updated a little more frequently.
If you find yourself wishing you could tweak the calendar on your iPad, then take a look at Week Calendar.
